Oklahoma City officially going to playoffs
With the road victory against the Heat on Monday, the Thunder have officially qualified for the 2018 NBA Playoffs. Oklahoma City is also one victory away from claiming the best remaining seed in the West. The Thunder will play the second-to-last place Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday. Should they win, they would lock up the four seed and play the five seed, which is still undetermined in the wide-open Western Conference.
Thunder clinch winning record on road
The Thunder’s victory gives them a 21-20 record on the road this season. At times early in the season, the Thunder didn’t look like they would even make the playoffs, much less have a winning record as the visiting team. Now, OKC can go into the postseason with confidence knowing it can play competitively on the road.
Westbrook needs big final game to average another triple double
Russell Westbrook is close to making more history. Westbrook, last season’s MVP, nabbed another triple double against the Heat with 23 points, 13 assists and 18 rebounds. In the final game of the season Wednesday against Memphis, Westbrook will need 16 rebounds, which is doable if he plays, to average a triple double for the season like he did in 2016-17.
