Juventus vs. Real Madrid

Sevilla vs. Bayern Munich

Liverpool vs. Manchester City

Barcelona vs. Roma

Juventus

Juventus beat English side Tottenham in an entertaining Round of 16 matchup. After a nervy home draw at 2, Juventus turned it around in the second leg to win 2-1 and 4-3 on aggregate. Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala, two Argentinians, shined for Juventus, the Italian side, in the Round of 16. Juventus’ quarterfinal versus Real Madrid will be a rematch of last year’s final, which Juventus lost 4-1.

Real Madrid

The defending champion Real Madrid surprised many with its easy victory against favorite Paris Saint Germain. Los Blancos haven’t played their best this season in La Liga but made up for it in the Champions League. In the first leg, Real Madrid defeated PSG 3-1 at home and continued its form in the second leg, winning 2-1 in Paris. Cristiano Ronaldo looked in his prime, scoring three of Real Madrid’s five goals.

Sevilla

Sevilla made club history after upsetting Manchester United to reach its first Champions League quarterfinal. After a solid 0-0 home defense in the first leg, Sevilla tallied a shock 2-1 victory at Old Trafford in Manchester. French international Wissam Ben Yedder netted two in the span of four minutes for Sevilla late in the game to punch a ticket to the quarterfinals.

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich had the most lopsided Round of 16 matchup with an 8-1 aggregate victory against Turkish side Besiktas. Bayern routed Besiktas at home in the first leg 5-0 and then 3-1 in Turkey. Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller recorded braces in the first leg. Bayern Munich, the German side, will most likely continue the scoring against minnows Sevilla in the quarterfinals.

Liverpool

Similar to Bayern, Liverpool also routed its opponent in the previous round. The Reds took care of business against Portuguese league leader Porto. In the first leg in Porto, Liverpool won 5-0. All three of Liverpool’s stars scored in the first leg. Sadio Mane notched a hat trick, and Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino each grabbed a goal. Liverpool will face favorite Manchester City, a team Liverpool has defeated once this season.

Manchester City

Manchester City eased through the Round of 16 against FC Basel, winning 5-2 on aggregate. Although Basel defeated the English giant 2-1 at Etihad Stadium, it wasn’t enough to overcome the 4-0 deficit from the first leg. Manchester City has already scorched the Premier League and will vie for its first Champions League title.

Barcelona

Messi was on fire for Barcelona in its 4-1 aggregate victory versus Chelsea in previous round. Messi had never scored against Chelsea in previous meetings but put an end to that, netting three goals over the two legs. After tying at 1 in West London in the first leg, Barcelona outclassed Chelsea at Camp Nou, winning comfortably 3-0. Barcelona is unbeaten in its past 15 games.

Roma

Roma had the closest Round of 16 matchup against Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, advancing 2-2 on away goals. Although Roma lost the first leg 2-1, its 1-0 second-leg victory in Rome pushed it through to the quarterfinals. Cenzig Under’s away goal in the first leg made the difference between the two sides. Roma, the Italian side, will need to play at its best to have a chance against Barcelona.
