Texas defeated Iowa State 68-64 on Wednesday night in Kansas City, Missouri. With the victory, the Longhorns keep their NCAA tournament hopes alive. The basketball power index has UT with a greater than 99 percent chance of making the tournament after the victory. With a loss, UT would likely not make the tournament.

The Horns struggled from the field throughout the night. Some questionable shot selections had them down by double digits in the first half. UT ranks 327th in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage, shooting 31.6 percent on the season. It shot an abysmal 25 percent from beyond the arc, attempting a season-high 31 three pointers.

The Horns found success when they forced turnovers. The Cyclones turned over the ball 17 times on Wednesday. Dylan Osetowski led the way for UT with 20 points. Jericho Sims had to step up in a big way with Mo Bamba sitting out another game with a toe injury. Sims tallied 15 rebounds to go with eight points. Despite the Cyclones’ loss, Lindell Wigginton had a solid outing with 20 points and eight rebounds. The Longhorns face Texas Tech in the quarterfinal at 6 p.m. Thursday night.
