Red Raiders inch closer to ending Jayhawks’ reign

Although Iowa State is last in Big 12 standings, Texas Tech’s 76-58 home victory against the Cyclones on Wednesday was a big step toward a regular- season Big 12 crown for the Red Raiders. The last time Texas Tech lost was on the road at ISU, so avenging that loss will go a long way for Chris Beard’s squad in keeping pace with Kansas, the top Big 12 team, in conference standings.

Defense has pushed Texas Tech to a 20-4 record, and the Red Raiders are No. 7 in the nation in points allowed per game at 62.9. But it was the offense, thanks in part to some high-flying dunks from Keenan Evans and Zhaire Smith, that propelled Texas Tech to a big victory against ISU.

Wildcats crack top 4 with close road victory

Kansas State led a late comeback to claim a 67-64 victory against Texas on Wednesday at the Frank Erwin Center. K-State got double-digit scoring from all of its starters. Dean Wade led the Wildcats with 16 points. K-State is fourth in Big 12 standings, and it can maybe get into the top three if it claims an upset victory or two in its final seven games.
