Kansas at Oklahoma
Trae Young led Oklahoma’s men’s basketball team to defeat Kansas 85-80 Tuesday night in Norman. OU (15-4, 5-3) bounced back from back-to-back losses against Kansas State and Oklahoma State.
Young, who tallied 26 points and nine assists, has scored 20 points in 18 straight games.
Young trusted his teammates when it came down to the wire, and they delivered. He made a fantastic play to set up Brady Manek for the dagger against the Jayhawks (16-4, 6-2) with 27 seconds left. Manek had 14 points and made four 3-pointers.
Despite the Sooners’ victory, they had trailed by 10 points with less than 10 minutes left. Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk was the Jayhawks’ leading scorer with 24 points, and he went 6-of-13 beyond the arc. Devonte’ Graham was held to 11 points, making only four of his 19 field goal attempts. The Jayhawks missed a chance to take full control of the conference with the victory and are only one game ahead of the four teams closest to them in Big 12 rankings.
KU will host Texas A&M on Saturday in the Big 12/SEC Challenge, and OU will go to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama.
