Big 12 Bounce: Texas upsets Texas Tech, TCU rolls past Iowa State

Texas vs Texas Tech

Texas upset No. 8 Texas Tech 67-58 on Wednesday night in Austin, Texas.

The Longhorns held the Red Raiders to a season low 58 points.

Kerwin Roach II played a major part in the Longhorns’ upset win as he scored a season high 20 points coming off the bench. Mohamed Bamba threw down a couple sensational dunks and put up 15 points.

The Red Raiders (15-3 overall, 4-2 Big 12) were off their game tonight, shooting only 38.2 percent on field goals,10 percent below their season average. Texas Tech trailed going into the second half and could not catch the Longhorns.

This loss puts the Red Raiders second in the Big 12 behind Kansas (15-3, 5-1).

 

 TCU vs Iowa State

TCU snapped a three-game losing streak against Iowa State 96-73 in Fort Worth, Texas.

TCU (14-4, 2-4) was forced to play without starting point guard Jaylen Fisher for the first time this season.

The Horned Frogs managed without Fisher as they scored 96 against the Cyclones (10-7, 1-5). Vladimir Brodiziansky went 11-for-13 on field-goal shooting and put up 26 points.

JD Miller was on target from behind the arc, shooting 5-for-6, and he scored 21 points. This win brings the Horned Frogs up to seventh in the Big 12.
