Each week of the NFL season, you can find a list of sleepers here at the O’Zone. The fantasy point projections come from ESPN’s non-PPR weekly projections, the scoring format used is ESPN’s standard fantasy football format
Quarterback: Jacoby Brissett, Indianapolis Colts
Projected points: 14.4
Jacoby Brissett has quietly had a strong season so far. Brissett is currently the No. 14 quarterback in fantasy. In Week 9, Brissett goes against the Houston Texans, who are allowing the fourth-most points to opposing quarterbacks. With six quarterbacks on bye in Week 9, Brissett is worth a look if you are in need of a quarterback.
Running Back: Adrian Peterson, Arizona Cardinals
Projected points: 13.5
In his time with the Arizona Cardinals, Adrian Peterson is averaging 4.2 yards per carry and has two touchdowns. In Week 9, Peterson is facing the worst run defense in the San Francisco 49ers, who are allowing 31.7 points to opposing running backs. With running backs such as Le’Veon Bell and Melvin Gordon on bye and Ezekiel Elliott being suspended, Peterson is a strong fill in for Week 9.
Wide Receiver: Robby Anderson, New York Jets
Projected points : 6.5
In Robby Anderson’s last three games, he has tallied either 75 yards or a touchdown. This level of production has shot him into the top 30 wide receivers. In Week 9, Anderson faces the Buffalo Bills, who are 17th in points against opposing receivers. With Anderson owned in only 26.5 percent of leagues, he is widely available.
Tight End: Vernon Davis, Washington Redskins
Projected points: 6.6
Following the news that tight end Jordan Reed would most likely not play in Week 9, Vernon Davis steps into his place. Davis has surpassed 10 points three times so far this season, and with the Redskins’ Week 9 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks, he should receive plenty of looks from quarterback Kirk Cousins with the receiving corps taking all of the attention from the defense.
Defense/Special Teams: Arizona Cardinals
Projected points: 8.3
In Week 9, the Cardinals’ defense will go against the San Francisco 49ers, who are in the top 10 in points allowed to opposing defenses. It is unclear whether current starter C.J. Beathard or newly acquired quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will be the starter, but either way the Cardinals’ defense should have success in shutting down the passing game, thanks to cornerback Patrick Peterson.
Kicker: Ka’imi Fairbairn, Houston Texans
Projected points: 8.3
Ka’imi Fairbairn is averaging eight fantasy points per game, and in Week 9, he plays against the Indianapolis Colts, who are allowing the most points to opposing kickers. With six kickers on bye, Fairbairn should be added by anyone needing a kicker.
