NHL Slap Shots: Finalists for Hart Trophy announced

Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby, Edmonton’s Connor McDavid and Columbus’ Sergei Bobrovsky were announced the finalists for the Hart Trophy on Monday night. The Hart Trophy is awarded to the league’s most valuable player. The winner will be announced June 21 at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas.

 

New Jersey wins top spot in upcoming draft

The New Jersey Devils will have the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft after winning the NHL Draft Lottery on Saturday. The Devils were given an 8.5 percent chance to win the top spot behind the likes of the Colorado Avalanche and the Las Vegas Golden Knights. The draft will be held in Chicago and span from June 23-24.

 

Crosby out Game 4

The Pittsburgh Penguins will be without captain Sidney Crosby in Game 4 against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday. Crosby is sidelined after suffering a concussion in the first period of Game 3 Monday night off a cross-check from Capitals defenseman Matt Niskanen.

 

Leafs sign Zaitsev to extension

The Toronto Maple Leafs signed defenseman Nikita Zaitsev to a 7-year, $31.5 million extension Tuesday. The deal is worth $4.5 million per season and extends through the 2023-24 season.
