Blue Jackets avoid sweep

The Columbus Blue Jackets avoided a first-round sweep with 5-4 victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night. The Blue Jackets will face the Penguins again Thursday in Pittsburgh as they try to stave off elimination, down 3-1.


Datsyuk adds KHL title

Former Detroit Red Wing Pavel Datsyuk led SKA St. Petersburg to the Gagarin Cup with a 5-3 victory in Game 5 against the Metallurg Magnitogorsk on Sunday. Datsyuk became the fourth person in history to win the Stanley Cup and Gagarin Cup, joining players Oleg Tverdovsky, Slava Kozlov and coach Mike Keenan. Keenan became the first coach to win both cups in 2014.


Bruins’ Miller returns after 2 games

Boston Bruins’ defenseman Collin Miller returned to action Wednesday night after his two-game absence. Miller was sidelined with a lower-body injury he suffered in the Bruins 2-1 Game 1 victory against the Ottawa Senators on April 12.


Blues’ Stastny skates with team

St. Louis Blues’ forward Paul Statsny skated with team for the first time in a month Tuesday. Statsny has missed the past 13 games after suffering a lower-body injury in the Blues’ game against the Colorado Avalanche on March 21. Blues’ coach Mike Yeo said Statsny is day-to-day and is expected to sit out the Blues Game 4 matchup against the Minnesota Wild.
