NHL Slap Shots: Coyotes sign draft pick

The Arizona Coyotes signed forward Clayton Keller to an entry-level contract. Keller was the Coyotes’ first-round pick last year and seventh pick overall. He just finished his freshman year at Boston University, where he tallied 21 goals and 24 assists in 31 games.


Sharks’ Halsey suspended one game

San Jose Sharks forward Michael Halsey has been suspended one game without pay for punching Calle Jarnkrok of the Nashville Predators. Halsey punched Jarnkrok after a questionable hit into the boards by Jarnkrok. Halsey’s punch sent Jarnkrok straight to the ice.


Hurricanes’ Lack out of hospital

Carolina Hurricanes goalie Eddie Lack had to be carted off the ice after a scary collision. The collision occurred when Detroit’s Andreas Athanasiou crashed into Lack while scoring the game winning goal Monday night. Lack is now out of the hospital with a neck sprain.


Lightning keep playoff hopes alive

The Tampa Lightning kept their playoff hopes alive with Monday night’s 5-4 overtime victory against the Chicago Blackhawks. The win put the Lightning one point back of the Boston Bruins for the Eastern Conference’s last wildcard spot.
