Westbrook scores career high in loss
Russell Westbrook scored a career-high 58 points in the loss to Portland. Fifty-eight points ties the franchise record for points in a single game in Thunder/Sonics history. Westbrook also had nine assists. His previous career high was 54 points against the Pacers in April 2015.
The Thunder scored 121 points but couldn’t get a stop on defense. Oklahoma City led 40-29 after one quarter, then allowed Portland to score 97 points over the last three quarters. OKC did win the fourth quarter in scoring, but it wasn’t enough as the Blazers made key shots down the stretch.
Thunder still can’t make move in standings
Even after their fourth straight loss, the Thunder are one game back of sixth place in the Western Conference. They hold the season tie-breaker over Memphis 2-1, with one game to be played. To make the playoffs with a higher seed than the seventh, OKC cannot afford to have a four-game losing streak against opponents with sub-.500 records.
