Bad third quarter
The Thunder led 52-41 at halftime and trailed 73-70 going into the fourth quarter. Oklahoma City has one of the worst third quarter ratings in the NBA and it again hurt the Thunder on Monday. The Thunder led throughout the first half, but because of the poor performance during the third quarter, the Thunder failed to win a big road game.
Another strong game for Roberson
Andre Roberson had his second straight double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Roberson has been driving to the basket and attacking instead of sitting in the corner, attempting to brick another 3-pointer. The improvements in his game have made Roberson more valuable to the Thunder moving forward.
Struggling bench play
The bench scored 24 points and struggled the whole night. When Russell Westbrook went to the bench, the Thunder suffered. Anthony Morrow didn’t score, Joffrey Lauvergne scored seven points in 20 minutes and Cameron Payne scored two points in 13 minutes. Alex Abrines hit two 3-pointers in a 90-second period but only played seven minutes. Abrines has lit it up from deep when he’s on the floor, but coach Billy Donovan doesn’t seem to play him as much as he should.
