Marcus Smart, guard, Boston Celtics
Marcus Smart’s week was highlighted by off-court drama when the third-year guard let his emotion overpower him in the Celtics’ loss against Washington on Tuesday. Smart had a heated confrontation with a Celtics’ assistant coach and punched a hole in the locker room. Smart averaged a respectable 10 points, 4 rebounds and 6.2 assists in the past five games, however, found himself back on the bench behind Jaylen Brown the night after incident. Celtics coach Brad Stevens said Smart’s altercation had nothing to do with his benching.
Tony Allen, guard, Memphis Grizzlies
Tony Allen recorded his fifth double-double of the season Wednesday, contributing 15 points and 11 rebounds in the Grizzlies’ win against Toronto. With five of his 13 career double-doubles coming this season, Allen is tallying one of his best seasons in 12 years.
