Gerard Gallant was relieved of his duties as the coach of the Florida Panthers after a 3-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday night. Gallant had the Panthers sitting at 11-10-1 after leading the Panthers to a franchise record 103 points on their way to an Atlantic Division title last season. The Panthers will need to fill the void quickly if they want to stay in the playoff hunt.

Vegas Team gets its Name

The expansion team in Las Vegas finally has its name after weeks of brainstorming. The team will be known as the Vegas Golden Knights and they will make their debut next season as the newest expansion team in the NHL.

Carle Retires

Matt Carle, a 12-year veteran, is hanging up his skates. Carle played on four different teams during his career, with the most recent being the Nashville Predators. He will finish with 45 career goals in 730 regular season games.

Toews Out

Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews missed his third straight game Tuesday night after injuring his upper body in the Blackhawks’ 2-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Nov. 23. This marks the first time Toews has missed three or more games in a season since the 2013-14 season in which he appeared in only 76 games.
