The NFL season kicks off Thursday with a Super Bowl 50 rematch between the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos. Before you set your fantasy lineups, be sure to check out these fantasy sleepers who could make an impact on your fantasy team during Week 1.
Quarterback: Derek Carr, Oakland Raiders
Carr and the Raiders are going up against the New Orleans Saints, a defense whose secondary got torched last season. Carr will be looking to build upon a great second year with the Raiders, and with Amari Cooper as his main target, expect Carr to put up big numbers Sunday.
Running back: Rashad Jennings, New York Giants
Jennings and the Giants take on a banged up Cowboys front seven, so expect the Giants to constantly run the football.
Wide receiver: Willie Sneed, New Orleans Saints
Sneed is going to be a bigger target for quarterback Drew Brees this season since he emerged as the No. 2 man for the Saints last year. Playing against a questionable Oakland secondary could be a great opening game for Sneed.
Tight end: Richard Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
Rodgers and the Packers go up against a Jacksonville team that has improved since last season, but with Jordy Nelson returning, expect Rodgers to be open more often and receive attention from Aaron Rodgers as the game goes on.
Kicker: Cairo Santos, Kansas City Chiefs
Santos could thrive against a San Diego defense that has its ups and downs. Kansas City is also prone to stalling on drives and let the kicker put points on the scoreboard for it, so this is a great setup for Santos.
Defense: Minnesota Vikings
Even with the injury to quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, the Vikings defense will remain strong against a young and inexperienced Tennessee offense. Expect them to put up a high point total this weekend.
